Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public speech writer. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency a website that hosts videos and commentary analyzing depictions of women's roles in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a non-for profit educational site that explores female representations in popular cultural narratives is founded and is directed by Sarkeesian. Aiming to dispel the myths that are associated with women in pop culture, she has also been working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and other classes of people online. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social philosophy, political and philosophical thinking. Alongside being a popular public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university Sarkeesian was concerned about issues related to gender and rights for women from a young age. She had a plan to start a web-based series on the gender roles in video games and found herself the target of a harassment online campaign. She was not deterred by the assault, the fact is that it only bolstered her drive to become a media critic and feminist. As a result of the many contributions she has made to feminism, she is recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media journalist who has received many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational organization that focuses on the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
